The study of mathematics is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.

By studying mathematics, students develop knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical concepts and their use within the classroom and beyond.

The syllabus consists of the following strands:

  • number and algebra
  • measurement and geometry
  • statistics and probability.

In Year 11 and 12, the study of mathematics is optional. Courses offered include:

  • Mathematics Advanced (from 2019)
  • Mathematics Extension 1
  • Mathematics Extension 2
  • Mathematics Standard 1
  • Mathematics Standard 2.

Our challenge is to engage all of our students so that they can achieve the best mathematical learning outcomes possible. Our aim is to develop students' mathematical thinking, understanding, competence and confidence in the application of mathematics while capturing their creativity, enjoyment and appreciation of the subject, and their engagement in lifelong learning.

Cromer Campus offers Mathematics Enrichment classes in Years 7 and 8. These classes focus on the Working Mathematically strand of the syllabus and students do work that is more challenging and designed to provoke curiosity and deepen mathematical insight. Students look at alternate and more sophisticated techniques and proofs.

In Years 9 and 10, the students are graded into three different pathways of learning; 5.1, 5.2 and 5.3. There is flexibility between the pathways.

In Years 11 and 12, Cromer Campus offers all of the NSW Board of Studies courses: General Mathematics Pathways I and II, Mathematics, Mathematics Extension I and Extension II.

Cromer Campus students have unlimited access to the Mathletics website. This resource is integrated into lessons and can be used at home at any time. This program has seen an improvement in students' results and engagement with mathematics and it is great fun!

Our learning environment is conducive to all students being able to give their best and experience success.
