Music at Cromer

Welcome to NBSC Cromer Campus Music. At Cromer Campus, we have an established music program with Mandatory Music in years 7 & 8, Elective Music in years 9 & 10 and Stage 6 Music courses. The Music curriculum has been designed to encourage, support, enrich and challenge the students musical knowledge and provide them the opportunity to value and appreciate a wide range of musical styles and genres. Students demonstrate this through a variety of learning experiences such as performing, composing and listening activities.

At Cromer Campus students develop their performance skills in guitar, keyboard, bass guitar, drums, ukulele, singing and their own instruments such as flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin and percussion. They are provided composition activities through music notation software packages and sequencing software which provides key links to the topics studied in class. The students are also given the opportunity to critically analyse and evaluate performance pieces through a wide variety of listening activities and tasks to enrich their theoretical knowledge. Students develop an understanding of the way historical and contemporary musicians compose and perform their music and develop the ability to discuss and critique these through interactive presentations.

At Cromer Campus in Music we offer many co-curricular ensembles. These musical ensembles include:

     Concert Band

     Stage Band

     Junior Band

     String Ensemble

     Choir

●     Junior Guitar Ensemble

●     Senior Guitar Ensemble

●     Junior Contemporary Band

●     Senior Contemporary Band

●     Year 7 Rock Band

We also provide students with the opportunity to perform on a regular basis through our Fortnightly Busking and Unplugged Gig sessions in the CAPA Quad. Students are also provided access to the music rooms to rehearse through a booking system to ensure they have ample time to practise but also to create their own smaller ensembles.  This includes using the recording room to create original compositions through Garage Band with a mixing desk and musical instrument interface.
